The Coupon code and Sale feature allow you to:
* Offer a discount for any number of products: a single product, multiple products, or all of your products
* Offer free products (100% OFF)
* Discount products by a specific amount (i.e. $15 OFF) or by a percentage (i.e. 20% OFF)
* Set a discount start date and a discount expiration date
* Add a countdown timer on your store
* Limit the number of coupon redemptions
* Pause and reactivate discounts
* View orders that had a coupon code applied at checkout
You can overview all your discounts at any time in the coupons and discounts section. There, you'll find information about all discounts, the number of products offered at a discount, usage stats, and expiration dates. You can edit each discount, change its name, or remove it altogether.
Okay, are there other ways? I don't think this will work for my situation.
Good Afternoon, @pavelj.
Thanks for reaching back out to the Community. I hate to hear that this doesn't work with your business. However, I can provide you with some information that will help put your mind at ease about adding a discount automatically for a customer that used a coupon, voucher, etc.
I can see how beneficial this feature would be for you and your business. However, there isn't a way to automatically add a discount on a customer's invoice. I'll submit some feedback to our Product Developers so they can consider this in one of the upcoming releases for the system. They take the time to review every request and try to add them to the next available updates.
Although there isn't a way for you to do this in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, you do have an option to add the discount manually. Here's how:
Note: Before doing the steps below, ensure that the discount feature is on in the settings menu.
Discount a percentage or specific amount
You can also check out the link near the beginning of the post to see another option of how to manually add a discount as an item with a fixed price.
When you're ready, you can start receiving a payment from a customer for an invoice in your account.
This information should bring peace of mind. If you have any other questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me. I'll always be around to lend a helping hand. Have a wonderful Friday!
I would like to know if this feature was ever added. I can add this by credit the customer with an amount. However that is not going to show in my report as a discount.
Hi there, Pako.
For now, the option to automatically add a discount to a customer is still unavailable in the program. Please know that added features in the program depend on the number sent to our developers. Let me take note of this as a suggestion to help improve your experience in QuickBooks.
Regarding the use of credits as an alternative, it's important to note that using credits won't display as discounts when generating reports in QuickBooks. However, if you utilize the discount feature, you will be able to generate a report to track the amount of discounts on your sales transactions.
To view these details, simply run an account quick report of the Discount Given account. Navigate to the Transactions menu and click Chart of accounts. Then, locate the Discount Given account and click Run report.
Moreover, you can customize reports to focus on the details that matter the most to your business.
If you have any further questions about adding or tracking discounts in the program, feel free to ask in this thread and I'll be happy to assist you. Have a great day.
I also would like the ability to offer promo codes to customers that can be entered in a box on the invoice or payment page to take off a certain percentage or dollar amount. I have been hoping to see this for quite a while.
Thanks for dropping by in this thread, apex1777. I'd be glad to assist you in recording promo codes for your customers on your invoices.
I can see how this feature would be beneficial to your business and your customers. However, adding promo codes to your invoices is unavailable at the moment. As a workaround, you can turn on the Discount setting to add the discount field to your invoice or estimate or add the discount to your invoices in the form of service items with a fixed price.
Firstly, let's ensure that the discount feature is on in the settings menu. And then we can follow the steps below to add the discount:
On the other hand, there's also the option to add them as items into the invoice. I recommend you use the Service category. You can enter a negative amount to decrease the invoice total. Here's how:
You can also check out this resource for more details on this process: Add a discount to an invoice or sales receipt in QuickBooks Online.
When you're ready, you can start receiving payment from a customer for an invoice in your account.
If you have more questions and updates on recording discounts and other QuickBooks-related queries, you can always come back to this thread. I'll be on the look out. Keep safe and stay well!
You need to have a payment portal and integrate it with QBO and QB Payment.
@4Gal I run a service based business rather than e-commerce. Do you have any recommendations for that? Thanks
You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA and they will share a 3rd party payment gateway to integrate with QB Payment.
