Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us here on the Community page, @brucecoughlin14.

QuickBooks analyzes all downloaded transactions received from your bank to give you the best possible suggestions for accepting each transaction. You can either add, match, or record a transfer from the Banking page.

If you wish to accept a downloaded transaction, you can simply click on the Add button so the transaction will be added to the register and moved from the For Review tab to the In QuickBooks tab. If there are existing records that match the downloaded transaction/s, you can click Find match to review the matched transactions.

Lastly, you can click on the Record Transfer button if you wish to transfer the transaction to the other account.

For additional reference about categorizing downloaded banking transactions, read this article: Assign, categorize, edit, and add your downloaded banking transactions.

Ok thanks. I undid all the transfer transactions in both accounts and re-did them using QB defaults/recommendations, but I still seem to have duplicate transactions. I decided to purge my company information and start over, maybe I'll try again next week. It's particularly daunting when you start QB new and have a whole year's worth of information to sort through (ie 2019). I might just start with Jan 1 as the date to start getting bank and credit card feeds and forget about 2019 altogether.

How do I categorize transfers from bank feed information? Do I categorize the transaction in each account as TRANSFER or is one a TRANSFER, the other a MATCH?

Hello, good evening.  I have followed the instructions on how to catergorize, but I feel that it is incomplete as I don't see how to add the transaction to the account if they are not added at the begining and they move over to the Categorized page for review.

I have already uploaded a CSV file, created rules and all of the  transactions have moved over to the "categorized  " tab,  that is where I am stuck.  I could not figure how to add to the account from there.

In the review page there is an ADD option.  Attached is a screenshot of my option in my categorized page.

I need to add these to the account and continue uploading more csv file. What do I do?

I'll help you out, Yvonne.

It seems like your bank rule automatically adds your transactions to the Categorized section. You can undo them to bring them back to the For Review tab, where you can change their categories. Then, add them again or match them to your existing transactions.

I would suggest reviewing and changing the conditions of your bank rule. That way, QuickBooks will categorize your future transactions correctly.

Thank you for joining this thread, LUJO220.

Allow me to provide the steps on how to categorize your bank transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

On your Bank Feeds, you can simply assign an account. And, choose Add more details under Action if you need to other information. See the attached screenshot below for your visual guide.

For more details, check out the Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop to help you record downloaded entries.
