The payment entry was made as a credit card and was supposed to be a check

How do I change a payment made with a credit card to the checking account so I can send a check?

Open payment

Delete payment

Enter new payment

 

Or, since a credit card charge is only entered as an Expense, edit the Expense to have the checking account as the source if you are hand-writing since you cannot print a check from the Expense screen even though otherwise it works just like Write Check

I did that but it does not allow me to change the source

Since the issue of changing the source or account from the payment created persists, I suggest logging into your account via incognito. This way, you're able to see if we get the same result. This method prevents cookies from being stored and makes it a great place to identify browser problems.

 

To open a private browser:

 

  • Google Chrome: Press CTRL + Shift + N.
  • Safari: Press Command + Shift + N.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Press CTRL + Shift + P.

 

Once you have successfully created your expense transaction, you can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This is done to speed up the process next time you want to create a transaction in QuickBooks Online. If the steps above didn't work, use another supported browser as an alternative.

 

However, If the issue continues to occur, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They have the tools to check your account and investigate the cause of the issue.

1. Open your QuickBooks Account.
