How do I enter an international contractor? It seems to only take US addresses

I am working on my 1099's and have a Canadian contractor. I am US-based. I am trying to enter her information and it won't accept the address.

How do I enter an international contractor? It seems to only take US addresses

I'm here to address your contractor's concern so you can successfully create a profile, @useryogi-spm76.

In your online account, QuickBooks only accepts US address for contractors. If the system denies a non-US location, we can search a dummy EIN on Google and use it in the required field. Then, save the information and create the contractor profile.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Workers menu and then choose Contractors.
  2. Select a contractor.
  3. Enter the contractor's name.
  4. Input the contractor's Email if you have checked the box that invites a contractor to add their own 1099 tax info.
  5. Click Add a contractor.
  6. Select Add.
  7. Choose whether the contractor is an individual or a business, then enter their information.
  8. Lastly, choose Save and close.

You can also add, edit or deactivate contractors in either the Workers or Expenses menu. Any changes made from any one of the menus will reflect on both pages. For more details about the process, you can check out this article: Add, edit and inactivate contractors

I've also attached an article to help your contractors add their own 1099 tax info: Invite a contractor. Doing so can help them complete their own profile and submit a signed W-9 online anytime.

Keep me posted if you have other questions about managing contractor profiles in QuickBooks. I'll be happy to help you. Have a pleasant day!

How do I enter an international contractor? It seems to only take US addresses

Yes I did that but it only lets me enter domestic (US based) addresses.  How do I enter a contractor in Romania?

I'm happy to clarify a bit here, @useryogi-spm76.

This contractor can't be set up as a contractor in QuickBooks Online because it will require a Tax ID and US address (neither of which they'll have).

The workaround would be to set up as a Vendor instead so that expenses related to their service can be tracked in QuickBooks. Here's how:

Here’s how to add a vendor with their currency:

  1. From the left menu, go to Expenses.
  2. Select Vendors, then New Vendor.
  3. Enter the vendor's name and other info.
  4. From the I pay this vendor with ▼ dropdown menu, select the currency you use to pay this vendor.
  5. Select Save when you’re done.

I'm also including the article on this so you can read more: Add a vendor with a foreign currency in QuickBooks Online.

I hope this is helpful and you can always reach back out in the comments if you have additional questions. Take care!
