How do I see how many of an exact item sold? Quick Report: doesn't total sales - only inventory?

Hello there, @daxd.

You can pull up the Inventory Valuation Detail report in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). The said report will let you see how many or the quantity of the item sold per transaction and the total inventory. You just need to set up the appropriate date to get the right information you want. You can pull it up from the Reports menu's Inventory option. For the detailed steps, here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Select Inventory.
  3. Choose Inventory Valuation Detail.
  4. Set the date from the Dates field and the system will automatically refresh.

I've attached a screenshot below for the sample result after performing the steps above.

You can also customize the report. This is to filter the data, add or delete columns, and even personalize the font and style. You can learn more about this through this article: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Additionally, QBDT displays reports based on a set of instructions known as a Report set. The information is extracted from the data file and shown as a set of transaction lines. To know more about this, I'd recommend visiting this article: Understand reports. It also includes the complete list of available reports in the program.

Please know that you're always welcome to comment below if you have other concerns or follow-up inquiries about managing your inventory items and sales transactions in QBDT. I'm just around to help. Take care.

Sorry no - but thank you for your reply. I mean where you can right click on an item in the [ITEM LIST] and it show the TOTAL of item paid and net inventory or a report that is this layout?

Hello there, daxd.

You can use the Custom Transaction Detail report to show you the list of items on each transaction and add the quantity column to show the total item sold. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Choose Custom Reports and select Transaction Detail
  3. Select the Columns to add such as quantity and go to the Filters tab to select the Transaction Type and Item.
  4. Click OK.

You can always visit this page for more details in customizing reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know if you have other questions. Take care!
