How do I set up the lot or unit number in Customers. Basically create a customer number

I'd be glad to help you create a customer number in QuickBooks Online, @piliguamishcampi.

You can assign account numbers to your clients in two ways. First is internal, where you can sort customers numerically and the account number appears in front of the customer's name. Here's how:

  1. From the left menu, choose Sales.
  2. Select the Customers tab.
  3. Click the customer's name to open the customer page, then select Edit.
  4. In the Display name as field, enter the account number before the customer name.
  5. Once done, click Save.

The second option is external facing. The account number appears with the customer's name on the invoices.

  1. Choose the Sales menu and select Customers.
  2. Select a customer to open the customer page, then choose Edit.
  3. Uncheck the Use display name checkbox.
  4. Add the account number on the Print on check as field.
  5. To see the account number reflected directly under the customer's name use the first line of the Street field.
  6. Once done, click Save.

I've also added this article that can guide you update your customer's profile in QuickBooks Online: Edit customer information.

That should do it. I'd be glad to provide additional help if you need some clarifications with the process. Have a good one
