The alert sound when capturing receipts comes from your device. You can turn off and adjust the beep by lowering the volume setting of your phone. However, this may affect other features such as the volume or alerts from other applications installed on your phone.

Hi there, userphoenixlh7623.
I'll make sure that you can turn off the alert sound.
Aside from adjusting the physical master volume buttons on the side of your phone, you can also turn off the shutter sound directly in the Camera Settings. I'll show you how:
Please take note that the interface may look a little different on your device, depending on the phone model and OS version you have. Take a look at my screenshot below:
Additionally, here's an article that you can read to help track the expense receipts and bills you capture with your phone or email to QuickBooks: Capture and categorize receipts and bills.
You can always find me here if you have follow-up questions or any other questions. Have a great rest of the day.
No, this does not fix the annoying sound. I am curious, this topic is getting very popular and no fixes. Has anyone with Quickbooks actually picked up their own phone and tried it??? Or are we not caring about this issue?
We've been alerted about this, iaff801.
Our Product Team has done extensive testing regarding the beeping sound when capturing receipts from your phone. Here are some of our findings during the Receipt Snap test:
As expected, the sound should be removed when the phone or media volumes are muted.
Rest assured that your complaints are being heard and we are doing what we can to resolve this issue. Feel free to visit the QuickBooks blog to know the latest features and improvements in the system.
In the meantime, you can download and install a receipt scanner app on your phone. Then, use an email to send us those receipts. We’ll extract info from it and create a transaction for you to review.

Just chiming in that I am having the same complaint, find it incredibly frustrating. I have a Galaxy S9. Turning off all sounds and turning off the shutter sound for the camera are two non-fixes for the issue. Hopefully sometime you'll find a fix for your app. It's disturbing to all around me when I try to take care of snapping receipts, something that should never be disturbing to others. It's mindboggling that someone thought it would be a good idea to include a sound with this action.

Hello, I figured I would chime in. I have a Galaxy Note 10 and the beeping persists regardless of whether I mute everything or not or turn all of the camera sounds off. Two loud and annoying beeps like old computers used to do when they were about to crash come out of the phone every single time I focus the picture or take a picture for the receipt capture.
Thanks. Glad to know you're working on it but frustrated at the increased amount of time I've had to spend recording my receipts due to this problem. This problem comes with very real financial repercussions to the small business owner and should be one of Quickbooks' top priorities.
Hi there, Bros Electric.
I also using the QBO mobile app. The Snap receipt feature uses the phone's sound settings. If the phone is on silent or vibrate mode, the sound stops. You'll want to put the phone on either silent or vibrate mode when using the said feature.
Also, you'll want to check our QuickBooks Blog. All our new features and innovations will be posted there.

Post again here if you have more questions. Stay safe!
I have the galaxy 10 also and have shut off shutter sounds, muted every volume control, and still get a full volume double tone when it focuses and snaps the picture. Hopefully this is resolved soon, as I am very busy running my business and don't need the extra steps to go around the sounds, and also don't need the obnoxious sounds that disturb people around me.
I have a Galaxy S9+ and muting all sounds and turning off the shutter button does not resolve this annoying beeping. It is so loud! Why does there even need to be a beep? There didn't used to be one. I shouldn't have to download a separate app to snap my receipts, thats why I pay for this service.
Shocked that this hasn't been fixed in over two months.
Like the other posters, I too am getting the loud, obnoxious beeping sound coming from my phone whenever I take a picture to add my receipt. I use a Samsung S10+ (these are mainstream phones that are having this problem, not obscure models), and this noise is extremely problematic for managing my business receipts. Lip service from the QB team isn't going to cut it, as paying consumers using your service we need to know what is being done to fix this problem, and when can we expect it to be resolved??
This is not the experience we want you to have, @Lindles.
I can't provide an exact time frame as to when this will be resolved. However, our Product Engineering team is already aware of this and is now working to remove this beeping sound.
To constantly receive an update about this, you can be added to the email list by reaching out to our Product Support Team. Then, let them add you to Investigation No. 52869.

I'm following this problem closely. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+, and despite turning the volume controls to silent/vibrate I still get obnoxious beeping sound.
Please resolve this ASAP!
So I just got fed up while scanning my receipts and I decided to see if there was something I was doing wrong that there was a piercing double beep sound every time I scanned something. I come online and find this thread and I think it's so wild that the solution given for the past two months is to either download a scanner to take photos, then email it to myself and call it a day or to turn the sound off on the phone itself along with the one found in the camera, (which I'm sure was the first action for many of the people who have this problem).
Is this problem truly being addressed or will we just have to live with paying for the entire app that has annoying new "quirks" that will most likely cause people to look for bookkeeping alternatives?
I understand the importance of any delay resolving this on-going investigation. Currently, our engineers were already able to identify the root cause of this unpleasant sound when using the receipt capture feature.
Although, there's no specific time frame on when this will be resolved. Rest assured our product developers are diligently working on releasing a permanent resolution to this concern. I'd recommend contacting our Technical Support team so you'd be added to the affected user's list. Just provide your full name, updated email address, and the specific investigation number. Here's how:
Once update about the investigation is available, you'd be notified through an email.
We appreciate your patience while our engineers are working on resolving this concern. Feel free to leave your comments below if you have other questions or concerns while using QuickBooks. I'm always here to help.
I am the original poster on this and it has now been 3 months of "dealing with this problem. Is this going to be fixed? I am paying for this software, and have so far paid you hundreds of dollars in monthly dues. Will there be any financial compensation since you can't seem to resolve a major issue?
Thanks for getting back to us, userphoenixlh7623.
I have another solution that you can try to fix the loud alert problem. If you haven't tried clearing your QuickBooks Online app's data, you can follow these steps:
Once done, close the app and make sure to turn off the auto focus sound for your camera. You can read this article for the instructions: Fix a sound issue when you capture receipts in the QuickBooks mobile apps for Android.
Ope the app again and try to capture a receipt. If you're getting the same result, you'll want to uninstall and reinstall the mobile app. This might have something to do with a damaged component within the app.
To uninstall, simply tap on the QuickBooks app icon, then hit Uninstall when the pop-up appears. Then, download the app again. You can find the steps here: How to download the QuickBooks Online mobile app.
Otherwise, contact our Customer Care Team. They can investigate the behavior and check deeper into the app's system.
Here are the steps:
