How do we make location of sale automatically match billing addresss?

We are a carpet business and taxes are based on the location of installation so EVERY.  SINGLE.  INVOICE.  we have to go in and manually enter the installation address in the Location of Sale as our store is in one of the highest tax brackets in our state and customers want to pay their own lower tax rate.  In addition, our full address populates in the Location of Sale window, which is somehow coming up as a different tax rate than just our zip code and I can't find a way to just enter the zip code only.  Another Frustrated with quickbooks user.

I appreciate you reaching out to the Community, I'll share what I know about your concern.

Aside from updating the address, you can also consider using custom tax rate. To set up custom tax rates, here's how:

  1. Go to Taxes and then select Sales tax settings.
  2. In the Custom rates section, select Add rate.
  3. You can either choose Single or Combined.
  4. Enter the Name of the custom rate. If adding a combined rate, enter a Nickname for each rate you need to combine as one custom rate.
  5. Select the Agency you file payments to. If adding a combined rate, select the agency for each rate you need to group as one custom rate.
  6. Enter the Rate and then click Save.

For more information about how to use custom rates, you can refer to this article.

No.  This does not help.  A custom tax rate for thousands of customers is not easier or faster than just putting their zip code into the Location of Sale, but thanks anyway.  I am finding Quickbooks to be more work than it seems to be worth.
