How do you get the invoices out of the modern view

I can help you get your invoices out of the modern view, @xltransport.

Before doing so, are you referring to returning to the old invoice layout? If so, QuickBooks made product enhancements based on feedback from our customers about the classic invoicing experience.

A change is currently underway for QuickBooks Online Simple Start and Essentials users. Roughly 70,000 users will be migrated to the new layout on April 24th (May 6th for Plus and Advanced). Once the migration is completed, users will no longer have the option to switch back to the old layout. The old layout will be deprecated before the end of May 2024.

However, if you are referring to the modern template I can guide you with detailed steps on how you can modify and manage default invoice templates in the new/modern layout.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online.
  2. Go to the +New icon and click on Invoices.
  3. Under the Design tab on the right menu panel, choose the options from the Recommended template or Other template.
  4. To manage default layouts, click Manage or Make default.
  5. Once done, enter all necessary details on your invoices. Then, click Save and Close.

You can check out this article for more information on the new estimate and invoice layout: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

For future reference, here's a guide on generating reports to get summarized information about your estimates and invoices: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

I'm all ears if you have any other concerns about invoicing in the new experience. Don't hesitate to reach out. Keep safe.

How do you get the invoices out of the modern view

@xltransport How do you get the invoices out of modern view? By complaining about it on social media.

As you can see from the response given to you by @Eman_E , Quickbooks is still committed to calling the new invoicing layout an "improvement" despite months of complaints from actual customers. People used this forum to beg Intuit not to go forward with their changes to invoices and reporting, and so they did delay it for a while, but ultimately decided to force it on all users this month.

The only way to get actual change is to report your terrible experience on social media like Twitter/X or LinkedIn where Intuit at least has to pretend to care about customer service.
