How to add a new job to existing customer

Thank you for getting in touch with the Community, Rebecca! I'm happy to help you with adding a new job to an existing customer using QuickBooks Online (QBO).

It's important to note that Project is used in QBO, while Jobs is used in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Additionally, the Project feature is exclusively offered in the Plus and Advanced versions of QBO. If you are currently not subscribed to these plans, you will need to upgrade your current plan to access this feature. To add a new job or project for a pre-existing customer, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Projects (Take me there).
  2. Select New project.
  3. In the Project name field, enter the project name.
  4. Choose a customer from the Customer ▼ dropdown. This automatically adds the customer's Email, Billing address, and Shipping address. Note: Make sure you have address information recorded for the customer profile.
  5. If needed, you can change or add an Email specific to this project.
  6. Enter a Start date and End date for the project.
  7. Select a project status from the Project Status ▼ dropdown. Note: You can also add more project info in the Notes field.
  8. In the Billing address section, you can change or add billing details specific to this project.
  9. If the shipping address is different than the client's billing address, uncheck the Same as billing address box. Then, enter the correct shipping details for this project.
  10. Lastly, click Save when done.
