How To Create an Item Actual Cost Detail in QBO?

We recently switched from QB Desktop to QBO and can no longer easily create an item actual cost detail by the customer. How can we create this report in QBO?

Thanks for reaching out to us. I'd like to share some details and steps on how you can run this report in QuickBooks Online.


You can run a report of your Cost of Goods Sold or COGS account. Then, we can simply filter it by customer. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate the COGS account and click the Run report under the Action column.
  3. From the Group by drop-down, select Customer, then click Run report.
