Hi sathinepal,

You've got me here, and I'll help you run a report to show Income and Expense with Custom date.

We have another report that we can customise to show only Income and Expense accounts for a Custom date aside from General Ledger. It's called the Transaction Detail by Account report.

Here's how you can open and customise the report:

  1. Click Reports in the left navigation bar.
  2. Enter Transaction Detail by Account in the search box.
  3. Click Customise in the upper-right hand part.
  4. Click the down arrow for Report period and select Custom. Enter your preferred date.
  5. Go to Filter and select All Income/Expense Accounts for Distribution Account.
  6. Click Run report (see attached screenshot).

If you want individual reports for each account, you can run an Account QuickReport:

  1. Click Accounting in the left navigation bar.
  2. Go to the Chart of Accounts tab.
  3. Look for your Income or Expense account and click Run report under the Actions column.
  4. At the top of the report, click the down arrow for Report period and select Custom. Enter your preferred date.
  5. Click Run report.

If you're referring to a different report, just hit reply and let me know a bit more what you need.

Do not use the general ledger

in reports, enter profit in the search box and choose the P&L report you want, then set the date range

What if I needed that report from the general ledger because of an audit? Could you explain how to get that report?

Thanks for joining this thread, IonLit.

You can still run the Transaction Detail by Account report, then add the debit and credit columns. This report lists all the transactions and total for each account in your chart of accounts.

I'll show you how to run it.

  1. Go to Reports on the left pane.
  2. Enter and search Transaction Detail by Account in the search box.
  3. Set the date range at the top.
  4. Then hit the small gear icon and check the boxes next to debit and credit.

I'd also recommend reaching out to your accountant for the best advice on what report should you use for the audit.
