How to get the inventory movement row data

Thanks for coming back to the Community, JinYeh.

QuickBooks Desktop uses the Average Cost method to value your inventory. That’s why the Asset Value column will show on the Inventory Valuation Detail and other inventory reports.

If you opt not to see the average cost of the items, use the data from your Custom Transaction Detail. Please know you’ll have to manually calculate the amount for each one to get the cost.

Here’s an article that provides detailed information on how QuickBooks manages inventory assets, average cost, and COGS: Understand inventory assets and cost of goods sold tracking.

Additionally, this guide contains solutions on how to resolve the following issue: Balance Sheet and Inventory/Stock Valuation reports show different amounts for Inventory Asset accou....

How to get the inventory movement row data

Hello JinYeh!

Let me assist you regarding the inventory report.

We can customize the Inventory Valuation Detail report so we can add the transaction column, quantity, and amount. Please pull up the said report and follow these steps:

  1. Click the Customize Report button.
  2. From the Display tab, search and select the Type, Amount, and Qty.
  3. Tap OK.

Once done, you'll see all the transactions related to each inventory with the quantity and amount. If you need detailed steps on how to edit the reports, here's how to customize them in QuickBooks Desktop. Then, click the Excel button at the top if you want to export it.

In addition, you'll want to set up Advanced Inventory in QuickBooks Desktop.

Post again here if you need anything else. Have a great day!

We can run the Custom Transaction Detail report. This way, we can add the quantity, item, and amount of the items.

Let me guide you how:

  1. Click the Reports menu.
  2. From the Custom Reports section, select Transaction Detail.
  3. In the Display tab, select Qty, Item, and Amount.
  4. Click OK.

I've also added this reference for more information in adding and removing data on the report: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

How to get the inventory movement row data

Hi JinYeh!

The Asset Value column shows the total value of the products. This is the result when you multiply the quantity on hand and its cost. The Amount column reflects the total amount for each transaction.

The reason why the Asset Value column isn't available in the Custom Transaction Detail report is that this report is for individual transactions only with each account involved.

I've added some links you can check. These will explain more about reports:

Leave a comment again if you have additional questions. Take care!
