How to set up a 2nd accounts receivable account for keep track and separate a 2nd type of income? How do I do this?

Hi there, @stacey31

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

QuickBooks Online, allows you to create multiple A/R accounts. Also, the initial A/R account created will be its default in tracking A/R balances. For this reason, we can't change the default A/R account assigned by QuickBooks. Alternatively, you can track two types of income with the use of sub-accounts.

Though, to be able to group your open receivables by the parent customer, you must create a parent customer for every Accounts Receivable type you need.

Here's how:

  1.  Click Sales, then choose Customer
  2. Tap the New customer to pop up the Customer information dialog.
  3. Describe a name for the account in the Company field. You can use the name of an Accounts Receivable account on the Chart of Accounts to identify the parent customer.
  4. Press Save

After creating parent account, you'll need to change the existing customer to sub-customers.

Here's how:

  1. On the left pane select Sales, then choose Customer
  2. From the search icon Locate and choose the existing customer to change.
  3. Hit Edit to open the Customer information dialog.
  4. Mark checkbox the Is sub-customer
  5. Select the parent customer you created from the Parent drop-down list.
  6. Press Save

Once done, So all transactions for that customer are merge in that named sub account.
