I am not able to create a "Custom User"

Hi there, @usermr.

Thank you for the screenshot you've provided. The Custom Role option in managing users is only available in QuickBooks Online Advance version. I'd be happy to assist you where to check if you have subscribed to this version.

  1. Go to the Setting or Gear icon and select Account and settings.
  2. Select the Billing and Subscription tab. I've added a screenshot to see how it looks like.

You can upgrade the version you're using to get more advanced features, for more information please check this article: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/pricing/.

I am not able to create a "Custom User"

Welcome to the Community, @usermr.

To ensure that I'm on the same page, may I know if you're getting any error messages when trying to create or add a custom user in QuickBooks Online (QBO)? Any additional information will help me provide the best resolution.

In the meantime, try signing into your QBO using a private browser (incognito). This will help us check if the browser is already full of frequently accessed page resources, causing some unusual responses.

Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome).
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox).
  • Control Option (Safari).

Once logged in, try to add the user again to double-check. Before we proceed, please note that creating a customer user is only available in QBO Advanced version.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top right to get to the Manage Users
  2. Click Add role, then choose Custom User.
  3. Click Next, then enter a name and description.
  4. Hit Save to complete.

For more information about the process, refer to this article: Add and manage custom roles in QuickBooks Online Advanced.

If it's successful, return to your default browser and perform a clear cache to refresh the system. However, if the issue persists, try using other supported browsers.

Just in case, I'll add this article for future reference: User types and user permissions in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if you have any other issues or concerns by leaving a comment in this thread. I'm always here to answer them. Have a great day!
