Hi there, userbrittanyscleanin.

If you're using QuickBooks Online, you have the option to add line items such as tax, tips, or deposits. QuickBooks Self-Employed on the other hand only allows you to enter transactions and categorize them to their correct expense. You'll want to separately enter each transaction for tax, tip, and deposit.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu.
  2. At the upper-right, click Add transaction.
  3. Enter the details of the transaction and under CATEGORY, select the correct expense category.
  4. Click Save.

Do the same steps in creating the tip and deposit transaction. To help you in categorizing your transactions, you can go to this page: Schedule C and expense categories in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Please don't hesitate to post your questions here if there's anything else that you need help with. Take care!

Thank you for your quick response, I tried everything, I decided to just delete everything and start over with regular quickbooks, I was using that last week and never had these problems. So now I deleted all of my accounts all together, it WONT let me get a new account at all just shows error code. What can I do now? Thanks.

This is not the kind of experience we want you to encounter in QuickBooks, userbrittanyscleanin.

Can you provide me what error message you've encountered while creating a new account?

In the meantime, Let's open new account using a private browser or incognito. It could be due to the browser's full cache that causes QuickBooks to get this unusual behavior.

To start, log into your QuickBooks account using a private browser/incognito. Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl+ Shift + N keys on your keyboard (Google Chrome).
  • Press Ctrl+ Shift + P keys on your keyboard (Firefox or Internet Explorer).
  • Press Control+ Option + P keys on your keyboard (Safari).

If it works, go back to the main browser. Then, clearing cache and cookies. Additionally you can also use another supported browser in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

If the same things happen, I suggest contacting QuickBooks Self-Employed Support, they have the tools to pull up your account and help you isolate this issue.
