I entered a $60 deposit using Accounts Receivable instead of Undeposited Funds and it wasn’t found until after the reconciliation. I tried to fix but made a mess.

Now my reconciliation and A/R’s are out of balance as well as other accounts. Can I somehow delete everything and start over?

Good day, @3A.

Let me help you fix your records in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Yes, can manually delete every transaction in QuickBooks to start over again. However, I won't recommend deleting all of them since only one transaction is affecting your Accounts Receivable (A/R) balance.

You can still correct this by opening the transaction and depositing the amount to the Undeposited Funds account. Since you've mentioned that the money was deposited into the AR account, then we have to open it and find the transaction.

Let me show you how.

  1. Go to the Accounting menu and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Search for the Accounts Receivable account.
  3. Look for the transaction, then double-click it to open.
  4. Change the account to Undeposited Funds and click Save and close.

This should now correct your records. To get more details about Undepositeds, you can check out the following articles for additional resources:

Hi Customer, @3A.

Hope you’re doing great. I wanted to see how everything is going about the Accounts Receivable issue you had the other day. Was it resolved? Do you need any additional help or clarification? If you do, just let me know. I’d be happy to help you at anytime.

Looking forward to your reply. Have a pleasant day ahead!
