I have a non-profit org where people make contributions through "membership." I processed transactions in Q4, but they are for 2022. How do I apply them to the 22 budget?

They are showing up in my 2021 budget, but I need them to register towards the line-item in 2022

The warmest welcome from the Community, @kbrooks-weleadio. Budgeting is vital quarterly. I’ll make sure you’ll be able to proceed with this process before the deadline.

When the data has been appropriately sorted, you will see the precise details that you are seeking. See to it that it is set to the beginning of your fiscal year in QuickBooks Advanced.

  1. Select Account and settings from the Settings menu.
  2. The Advanced tab should be selected.
  3. Examine the First month of the fiscal year field in the Accounting section. Select Edit to alter the date.

You can utilize this link for additional information on creating and importing budgets in QBO.

I don't understand.

The settings for my fiscal year are correct. We operate on a calendar year, and it is set as that in the settings.

I received payments in November and December 2021 that were for 2022 memberships. I recorded they payments back in 2021 when I received them, but they are showing up in my 2021 budget. How do I move them to my 2022 budget instead?

Welcome back, @kbrooks-weleadio.

I'm here to help move the transactions processed from 2021 to the 2022 budget.

Please know that you can only compare your actual sales and expenses to your created budget. That said, you'll want to edit the date of the payment so you can compare them to your 2022 budget. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Sales menu, then select All Sales.
  2. Find and open the created payments.
  3. From the Payment date field, change the date.
  4. Click Save and close.

Most importantly, I recommend seeking help from your accountant before doing this. They may suggest another way on moving the payments based on your recording practices.

You might also want to modify, copy, or delete your created budget. This article will guide you through the steps: Manage budgets in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if you need clarification about budgeting. I'll be standing by for your response, @kbrooks-weleadio.
