It's my pleasure to help you in applying the transactions against each other, @gitterbates.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), we can set up a barter account when you and your vendor exchange goods and services. I'd be glad to show you how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon then select Chart of accounts.
  2. Click on New to create a new account.
  3. Under the Account Type ▼ dropdown, select Bank.
  4. Under the Detail Type dropdown, select Cash on hand.
  5. Enter the account name. (For example: Barter Bank Account)
  6. Select Save and Close.

Next, let's create an invoice and receive the payment.

To create an invoice:

  1. Click on + New then select Invoice.
  2. Select your vendor's name from the Customer ▼dropdown.
  3. Select the product/service and enter $3000 as the amount.
  4. Enter all the necessary information.
  5. When done, hit on Save and Close.

Now, let's receive payment for the invoice:

  1. Click on + New then select Receive payment.
  2. Select your vendor's name from the Customer ▼dropdown. The invoice details you created earlier will appear under Outstanding Transactions.
  3. Fill in the date and amount.
  4. Select the Payment method ▼ dropdown, then Add new.
  5. Enter "Barter" in the Name field then hit on Save.
  6. In the Deposit to ▼ dropdown, select your barter bank account.
  7. Click on Save and close.

The next step is to enter the amount you owe to the vendor which is $1500.

When done recording the exchange, the invoice will automatically show a balance due.

Additionally, I've included an article that'll help you run reports to keep up with the financial stand of your business: Run basic financial reports in QuickBooks Online. You can then personalize the appearance of the report to focus on specific data.

Keep your post coming if you've got additional questions about handling transactions in QBO. I'll be right here to assist you further. Take care.
