I have added items of different categories to my estimate and invoice. I want different tax rates to apply to them instead of the same rate on all. Can I do this in QBO?

I could find a solution for Quickbooks Dekstop - https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/reports-and-accounting/how-can-i-tax-items-at-diff... But, I can't figure out how to do this in Qbo.

Thanks for visiting us here today, @akshay-zomentum-.

I'll walk you through the steps on how you can apply different tax rates in one invoice. Looking at the links you've added, our Allstar uses the subtotal item to get each item's sales tax rate. You can also do this in QBO, here's how:

  1. Go to +New, then choose Invoice.
  2. Enter the customer's name, and then scroll down towards the Taxable subtotal section.
  3. Select out of scope (0%) from the drop-down.
  4. In the Product/Service column, type in the item followed by the second line's sales tax rate or agency.
  5. Then, tap the Add subtotal button.
  6. List the item, sale tax rate item, and the subtotal on the next line.
  7. Click Save and close.

Below is a screenshot of how it looks like.

If you need to add a new sales tax rate or agency, please refer to this article for details: Set up your sales tax.

Additionally, you can browse this link here to go to our general customer topics with articles. Look for a title that fits your concern.

I'll be around if you have other questions or concerns about invoices. Just drop them in the comment section below, and I'm more than happy to answer them for you. Take care and have a lovely day ahead.

This allows me to add tax amounts separately. However, these figures don't add up as tax under subtotal. Neither will it be reported.

It's a dirty hack which won't work, I'm afraid.

Thanks for coming back here, akshay-zomentum-.

In QuickBooks Online, you can add multiple sales tax rates, including the combined ones. However, we're unable to add more than one tax rate on a single invoice. The feature is only available in our QuickBooks Desktop product.

To help improve your experience in QuickBooks Online, I recommend sending feedback to our Product Development Team. We always update the features in QuickBooks, and this option might be included in the future.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then select Next to submit feedback.

I'm also adding these articles to learn more about sales taxes:
