Hi there, @user52720.

You'll have to set up and create a project for every customer to track profitability. This way, you can run a profitability report on every particular customer where you posted the invoices. Let me guide you through the process.

First off, let's turn on the project feature. Here's how:

  1. In your QuickBooks Online, click the Gear icon and select Account and Settings.
  2. Select the Advanced tab, then go to the Projects section and click the pencil icon to edit.
  3. Put a checkmark to Organize all job-related activity in one place checkbox.
  4. Click Save, then Done.

Once finished, you can now create a project for every customer you want to track profitability.

  1. Click Projects from the left menu.
  2. Select New Project, then enter the project name.
  3. In the Customer drop-down, select the customer you’re working for.
  4. Click Save.

Please repeat the steps for the rest of your customers you want to track profitability.

I'm adding this article for more details: Set up and create projects in QuickBooks Online.

After creating a project, you'll have to go back to the invoices and change the customer name to the appropriate project name. This way, those transactions will show on the project.

Once done, you can now run the profitability report from the Project page. Let me guide you how.

  1. Go to the Project menu, then select the project you want to run a profitability report.
  2. Click the Project Report tab.
  3. Select the Project profitability report, then click View.

You might want to check out this article to learn more about how to track profitability by project: Track income, costs, and profitability by project.

Please let me know if you need further clarification about this, or if there's anything else I can do for you. I'll be standing by for your response. Have a great day.
