I'm trying to add partner investements in my company. I've set up partner equity accounts. When I go to record a bank deposit the equity accounts aren't listed.

I'm following the instructions here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/bank-transactions/record-owner-contri... But even though I've created the equity accounts, it only show bank and credit card accounts when I try to do the deposit. Help?

Hi there @skankybart. I'd be happy to help you assess this error and get back on track.

I've replicated the process and found no issue with assigning the equity accounts. No worries, we will perform a browser troubleshooting method. This is likely a browser cache issue. If a certain webpage's cache data is corrupted (or if the cache storage is full), it can cause problems within QuickBooks.

To see if this is the case, let's use an incognito or private window. It doesn't use the existing cache data, which is perfect for ruling out these kinds of issues. The shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: Control + Option + P
  • Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P

Log in to your QuickBooks Online company from there and create a deposit transaction. If it the equity account can be found in the line item, then close the private window and go back to your regular browser. Next, clear its cache to resolve the loading issue. Finally, close and reopen it to complete the process.

Alternatively, you can use a supported browser.

Moreover, I've got a reference for you that can be handy in the future: Record paying back an investment.

I'll be around to answer any other future questions you might have for QBO. Post a reply here and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Enjoy your weekend!

@skankybart

Assign the equity account(s) in the  'Account' field under "Add funds to this deposit".

I'm having the same problem.  I tried it in an incognito tab as you suggested and it still isn't showing equity accounts, only bank accounts.  Any other suggestions on how to fix this?  I'm using google chrome.

Hi there, @lhodgdon. I'm here to make sure that you can use the Equity account.

As mentioned by Rainflurry, you can use the Add funds to this deposit section to deposit the transaction to your Equity account. Please note that you can only choose Bank and Credit Card in the Account column of your deposit.

To record a bank deposit, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the +New button above the left menu bar and then select Bank deposit.
  2. From the Account ▼ dropdown, choose the account you want to put the money into.
  3. Select the checkbox for each transaction you want to combine.
  4. Scroll down to the Add funds to this deposit section.
  5. Enter the necessary details and choose the Equity account from the drop-down.
  6. Select Save and close or Save and new.
