I'm trying to manually enter a new account...and nothing will register...................

Have you heard about usage limits? In QuickBooks Online, there is a limitation to the number of user, class and location, and accounts on your Chart of Accounts you can add. With regards to the accounts, we can add up to 250 for Simple Start, Essentials and Plus. Please check the Usage tab on your Account and Settings to see if this is reason why you can't save it.
We can perform some troubleshooting steps if you haven't reached the limit yet:
Create and save your new account using an incognito window. This won't save data which causes errors in QuickBooks Online.
Delete the browser files called cache. Refer to the article about clearing cache. These are the junk data that the browser saves.
Update your browser. Old version can also result to browser issues. Please use another one if there's available.
