I need COMPANY added on my Customer Reports. Currently only NAME which is an account number is on it

Hi

 

Our quickbooks reports are only showing our Customer Account Numbers and Vendor Account numbers because it is under NAME.  The actual name is under COMPANY.   

How can I get my Open A/Receivable report to display this?  Right now when I run reports I can only see account numbers which means nothing to me.  I need to see the Company name.

 

Please help asap :)

Hello there, mpatterson.

 

I can help you add columns that will help you identify the name of the customer. 

 

Reports will base on the Customer Name you entered on the customer's profile. When running the Open Invoices report, you can add other customer profiles where their names are posted such as Name Contact and E-mail. I can show you how to add those columns. 

 

  1. Go to the Reports menu and choose Customers & Receivables.
  2. Click Open Invoices.
  3. Select Customize Report.
  4. Under the Display tab, search and select under COLUMNS, Name Contact, or Name E-mail.
  5. Set other columns and filters on the report and click OK.

While the option to add the company name on the report, you'll want to pull both the Customer Contact List and Open Invoices report and export them to Excel. From there, you can collate them.

Thank you! But no it did not work.  I have desktop enterprise 2021.  Please let me know how I can actually see the COMPANY name on all of my reports not just the account number.  Reports need to have company name on it. Please give me step by step instructions to do this.   I would be so grateful.  Thank you.  These reports need to be given to owner ASAP !

I have a workaround that you may want to consider, mpatterson.

 

We can modify your customer's name to their company name. This way, it will be included on the reports. Let me guide you how:

 

  1. From the Customers menu, select Customer Center.
  2. Click your customer's name.
  3. Under Customer Information, select the edit (pencil) icon.
  4. Interchange the CUSTOMER NAME and COMPANY NAME.
  5. Click OK.

Unfortunately there is no way to include the company name on reports.  It is rather odd, given that you can include the address and also some seemingly minor fields - much less important.

 

What is it you're trying to do/would you do if you could include the field? - perhaps there is another way...

Thank you ! I’m trying to print an aging accounts payable, accounts receivable   And customer report.  Only account numbers are shown.  No names of the company’s.  
I also am trying to print a profit and loss statement with classes.   Any recommendations so you can actually read?   Currently, so small I can’t read.

Thanks for following up with us regarding the reports. I'll add some more details about the Company Name data, and help you customize the profit and loss statement. 

 

As what BigRedConsulting and my colleagues have mentioned, we're unable to add the Company Name data on reports. Though, the Vendor Contact List and the Customer Contact List reports will show it. You would just need to add the column: 

 

  1. Go to the Reports menu, then hover on Customers & Receivables or Vendors & Payables
  2. Select Customer Contact List or Vendor Contact List.
  3. Click the Customize Report button.
  4. Check Company, then click OK

You can export both reports (by clicking the Excel button) and use them as a reference for your aging reports. The workarounds shared by my colleagues can be an option, too. 

 

Regarding the profit and loss statement, you can change the font settings within the report itself to make it more readable. Here's how: 

 

  1. Go to Reports, then hover on Company & Financial
  2. Select Profit & Loss by Class
  3. Click the Customize Report button.
  4. Go to the Fonts & Numbers tab.
  5. Select the report data under Change Font For.
  6. Click the Change Font button.
  7. Adjust the font settings, then hit OK.

Thank You!  But, the only problem is we are importing data from Corridor through transaction pro and it's identified by CUSTOMER NAME...so CUSTOMER NAME can't be altered or the import won't work correctly.

 

All I want to do is have CO NAME information to show up ALSO on the report.

 

Can anyone help?

Hi mpatterson,

 

If I'll be running reports, I'd also look for the Company Name. However, your data is already in QuickBooks, and as everyone said, there isn't a way to display it given your current setup. That's why my colleagues provided a workaround.

 

I see that you can't alter the names during the import process, but are you not able to do that on the imported profiles?

 

You can always go back to this thread if you have additional questions.

I see this conversation has gone cold but I'm curious if you ever found a workaround? We are having the same problem. Also using TransPro to import sales. I can't for the life of me understand why so many other fields can be customized onto a report but company name is not provided as an option. Please let me know if you've figured anything out.

I acknowledge your sentiments, Crausch18. Let me chime in and share additional details about the customer reports in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

 

We aim to provide you with a convenient experience while using QuickBooks for all your tasks. I suggest submitting a feature request to our software engineers concerning the inability to add a company name to a report. Rest assured, they'll carefully analyze the input received and consider including this functionality in future product upgrades.

 

To submit a feedback:

 

  1. Select the Help option, then click the Send Feedback Online option.
  2. Tap Select the Product Suggestion option. A pop-up window appears.
  3. Enter your feedback suggestion.
  4. Hit the Send Feedback button. 

 

In the meantime, you can export your report to Excel and make any updates to enter the company name as your workaround.

 

You can also memorize reports in QBDT to save the same configuration settings of the customized report.

Thank you. I have submitted this feedback on multiple occasions but have not received any response nor has there been any product updates. I understand that it is possible to export the report to excel but we deal with thousands of customers so manually entering company names into a spreadsheet is too time consuming.

 

It seems like such a simple fix. Just add the existing field "company name" within the infrastructure to your report filters. The first instance of someone reporting this issue (as the previous user states, we also use TransPro) in this very thread dates back to 2021 yet it's not been fixed. It's to the point where we have to move off of Quickbooks and onto something with better functionality because we can't manage sales reports with thousands of customers using a report that only offers randomized account numbers.
