I need to run a report on specific product category sales

Hello,

I need to run a report on specific product category sales.

I am adding products to my invoices (for years now) that are retail purchases (not taxed, because the tax was paid, and is simply being passed through to the customer without markup).

I need to know the total amount by year calculated by various values when the category has been used.

I need to run a report on specific product category sales

Greetings, @solecreation.

Thanks for visiting us here in the Community. I can share information about the report you'd like to run in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Based on the information you've provided, you can run the Sales by Customer Detail report. Then, just select Account in the Group by drop-down to show all the accounts or categories you've used.

Here's how:

  1. In QBO, go to the Reports menu on the left pane.
  2. In the search field, type Sales by Customer Detail, then select it on the drop-down to open.
  3. Choose your preferred date in the Report period section.
  4. Pick Account in the Group by drop-down.
  5. Hit Run report to refresh.

To learn more about managing and customizing reports in QBO, consider checking out this article: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

For tips and other resources, I recommend visiting our website for future reference: QBO self-help articles.

Please let me know if you have additional questions about reports or anything else in the comment section below. I'll be here to assist. Take care and have a good one.

The Sales by Category report tells you how much revenue is being generated for each product category (e.g., "clothing" and "music") and service revenue category (e.g., "retreats" and "classes"). It's a great way to see which revenue categories are generating the most money for your business.
