I've noticed when I run my expense report for last year, that transactions from certain expense categories are not showing. How can I fix this?

I run an antique mall, and my vendor payouts are mostly absent from my listed expenses. But when I type that vendor's name into the search box, those transactions are there. How can I get them to show in my expense report? Why are they hidden? Just wondering what else could be "hiding." Thanks in advance!

Hi there, shopbleu32

You can run the Transaction Detail by Account and use the appropriate filter to ensure all your expense transactions for a specific category appear. I'll be here to help you achieve this.

This report offers a detailed overview of all transactions impacting a particular account in your company's chart of accounts. By applying appropriate filters, it ensures that the information is accurate and customized to fit your business's needs. To view them, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Search for the Transaction Detail by Account report.
  3. On the upper right part of your screen, click the Switch to classic view.
  4. Once done, navigate to the Customize button.
  5. Set the correct Report period.
  6. Go to the Filter dropdown and tick the Transaction type, Account, Distribution Account, then Vendor.
  7. Once done, select Expenses from the Transaction type dropdown. Select All for Account and Vendor, then choose All Expenses Accounts from the Distribution Account.
  8. Afterward, click Run report.

It will show you all the expenses transactions that you need to review.

With that in mind, I recommend ensuring all relevant categories and accounts are included when generating reports so all expense transactions will be displayed.
