I want my custom invoice to be the default invoice? When I preview an invoice it's still the standard invoice and not the new invoice I created!

Hi there, @heather-empiresa.

I hope you're having a successful week so far. I can help you change the default invoice template in your QuickBooks Online account.

You can switch between different invoice templates from your Custom form styles page.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Custom form styles.
  3. Find the custom invoice you'd like to set as your default.
  4. Under its ACTION column, click the dropdown arrow.
  5. Select Make default. You'll see (default) displayed by the default template name.

You can also toggle between your created templates when you create an invoice by clicking the Customize button at the bottom of the screen. This will allow you to see all the different styles and custom templates you've made (see screenshot below).

Finally, here's a detailed resource to learn the several options available for customizing the details of your form: Customize Sales Forms.

I'll be here to help if you need further assistance with creating custom templates. Have a wonderful day!

I made my new invoice the default invoice but when I create new invoice it comes up with the old one.

Why?

Thank you so much for your help

I know some troubleshooting steps to help you fix your default invoice issue, Jonnie.

The issue you encountered could be related to the cached data and site history that your browser has stored. Let's get things cleared up. Start by opening your account in a private or incognito session.

You can use the following shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • MS Edge and Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift N

If you successfully make the new invoice template default, you can clear the cache in your regular browser to let it start browsing from scratch. Alternatively, use another supported browser instead.
