The message you're getting will prompt when you're QuickBooks Online company is set to Business View. To correct this, you can click the Gear icon on the top right and choose the Switch to Accountant view link.
Then some of the QuickBooks Online terms will automatically change in a couple of seconds. You can now create a new account from the Chart of accounts without seeing the prompt from before.
Well done! Just in case you wanted to create subaccounts, here's the step by step process on how to add them: Create subaccounts in your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online. It includes the details on how to change an existing account into a subaccount.
Feel free to leave a comment if you have additional questions about adding a new account account or any QuickBooks relevant concerns. I can help you here. Have a great day ahead!

Thank you @Jovychris_A That worked! I wish the Help docs online would have stated that on the page giving instructions on how to add a new account. Was very confusing as a new user to have the default view be Business and not have the instructions work as written. But am very glad you were able to show me where that was located. Thanks again.
OH. MY. GOSH. Switch to accountant mode? Quickbooks Online really expects people to know about this feature just to add an account? This is a fail. Totally frustrating. Totally annoying. Totally unnecessary.
