Join nowGreetings all,
I am the Treasurer of a local non-profit in Virginia, and we are preparing for a massive increase in community service as we take on a CARES grant to serve people impacted by COVID 19. We are concerned that the new demand could swamp our volunteers (we are 100% volunteer) who are already fully engaged with our core support mission.
What we would like to do is create a single EXCEL spreadsheet that contains client name and contact information, the dollar amount of support provided, and its purpose (rent, utility, food, etc) and then import that data as transactions into QuickBooks and also use that same information to print checks from QuickBooks. This would help us from having our client counselors and financial staff from entering the same information multiple times.
Can someone tell me if this is possible and how I would do that? I have searched the web and support community and couldn't find an answer. We are using QuickBooks Premiere Nonprofit Version 2016 and will soon be upgrading to version 2020.
Thanks for your help!
Dave G.

Managing clients information is made easier for you. Yes, you can import the data through Excel. For you to do it successfully, we can follow the columns in this article: Import customer or vendor contacts from Outlook, Excel or Gmail.
Before we import the file, I'd recommend creating a backup copy of your company file.Once you have the clients information in Excel, you can already import it to QuickBooks.
You can use this link for reference: Import or export MS Excel files.
Feel free to get back to us if you need additional assistance in managing your client information. Have a great day!
As another option, utilize a 3rd party importer tool.

Then you may purchase the new license of QBD 2020 thru Techsoup. QBD Premier for 3 users costs $150.
Use our BRC IIF Transaction Creator to import transactions into QuickBooks from Excel worksheets. It supports most types including Sales Receipts, Deposits, and Checks, which sounds like what you need to import.
