Hello everyone,
I am currently using the QuickBooks online plus version. I want to track inventory in different locations, let's say 1) Main Warehouse and 2) Emergency Storage. Each location may have similar inventory items. What will be the most efficient way to set things up so I can tally counts how much inventory exists in each separate locations? Please help advise. Thank you so much.
Hello, @thanhphuongy.
I'm here to guide you today so you can track your inventories accordingly.
At this time, you can set an identification name for your inventory items to which location they belong (Main Warehouse - Item1, Emergency Storage - Item 2). This is only for inventory tracking purposes. If you need to use a location for transaction tracking, you need to add the location when you purchase or sell an item.
Also, you can check out for a third-party app from the QuickBooks Application Center that can help your track inventories in multiple locations. Tracking inventory for multiple warehouses is not available in QBO. To learn more about location tracking in QuickBooks Online, check out this article.
Please know that I'm always here to help if you have any other questions. Just leave a comment below. Have a good day!
QBO doesn't yet support multiwarehouse. Consider having an inventory management app to do so.
Thank you for your help and response. Im not quite clear on what you meant by 'set an identification name'? Does it mean setting different inventory accounts within the chart of accounts or how else should I do it? Keep it mind that at each 1) main warehouse and 2) emergency storage, there may be many different similar inventory items, with different counts. I need to keep track of the counts.Thank you.
Good day, thanhphuongy.
Let me share more details about setting up inventory in QuickBooks Online.
Unline QuickBooks Desktop, we're unable to track inventories from multiple stores or locations in QuickBooks Online. What Angelyn mentioned is only a workaround, by setting up multiple items and add an indicator that it's from a different location.
You'll want to create a new account for the other location or look for third-party software that can track multi-location inventory. Please visit the Apps tab on your QuickBooks Online account.
Let me know if you have more clarifications. Wishing you all the best!
Hi there!
QBO currently track only ins and outs of money for locations. But not the quantities. We are actually adding this now into our software, to enable quantitative stock for locations.
To track inventory in different locations using QuickBooks Online Plus, you can utilize the "Locations" feature under the "Gear" icon > "Account and Settings" > "Advanced" > "Categories" and enable "Track locations". Then, assign locations to your inventory items. This way, you can run reports to see the inventory counts at each location.
But again, that would track money. If you need to track quantities, I recommend using Warehouse 15 for QBO. It integrates with QuickBooks, allowing you to track inventory via mobile devices, print labels, scan barcodes, and manage stock directly from your warehouse. It's a great solution to maintain accurate inventory records.

Hope this helps!
