Is there a way to atuomatically classify Paypal transactions as Sales Receipts and setup the right [Deposit-to] value - using Connect to Paypal app (was in old Sync app)

I switched from Syncw/ Paypal app to newer Connect to Paypal app, and seem to have lost some valuable automated settings. Previously Paypal transactions were auto created as Sales Receipt with the right Bank and Deposit To values. But now (with Connect to Paypal app) this is not happening automatically. And there is no configuration to set this up.

I got you on this, @treasurer105.

Let's make sure you have your Auto Add-feature enabled for these transactions.

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as an Admin.
  2. Go to the Banking menu or Transactions menu.
  3. Locate the PayPal bank card, then select the Edit (pencil) icon.
  4. Select Edit Settings.
  5. Under the Other section, mark Auto Add Transactions.

This will allow the app to import your PayPal sales transactions without having to review them.

Check out this article for more on the Payapll app: Use the Connect to PayPal app.

If you have additional questions on this, don't hesitate to reach out, I'm here to help. Take care!

@treasurer105

As another option, explore this app to reconcile your PayPal transactions into QBO.

Thanks, I did notice the setting allowing me to Auto Add Transactions, but I would like to know what they get added as before doing this (E.g. As a Sales Receipt, with right Bank and Deposit To values). Don't want them auto-added incorrectly, as then its a mess to go cleanup.

These were adjustable in the older Sync with Paypal app but have disappreared now in Connect to Paypal app.

Hello there, treasurer105.

The Connect to PayPal app lets you handle your PayPal transactions the same way as other bank transactions. Transaction listed shows as Deposit (Received) or Expense (Spent). Each transaction posted in your For Review tab can be added or matched to existing ones in the system.

You can check out this page where it gives you a table on how PayPal transactions are handled within QuickBooks Online: Use the Connect to PayPal app.

Let me know if you have other questions. Take care and stay safe!

Thanks for the reply Catherine_B. Am aware that Connect to Paypal app adds entries into the Banking tab and in Review section, then I have to manually mark each one as a Sales Receipt. This was automatically done in the earlier [Sync with Paypal] app so I didn't have to do this manually (or set rules) each time.

Hey there, @treasurer105.

Thanks for following up with us. I'm happy to provide additional insight into the app.

After some comparison of the apps, you're right. You'd need to manually mark the transactions, where this was automatically done for you in the previous app. I can see how this feature was beneficial for you and your business. I've submitted a feedback request on your behalf, so this can be considered in a future update.

Please let me know if there's anything else that I can do for you. You can reach out to the Community at any time. Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks ToriB from Quickbooks Team.

Is there a possibility that you could make the Sync with Paypal app also available for those who prefer to use it. Right now my only option is a 3rd party-paying app. And in many cases have to deal with another interface in addition to QBO. So would be very valuable to have Sync with Paypal app back.

I'm here to provide additional insights with the PayPal app integration in QuickBooks, treasurer105.

There are three (3) ways to connect PayPal:

However, you can only choose one for online banking. You can refer to this link for comparison: Differences between Connect to PayPal app, Sync with PayPal app, and PayPal Bank Feeds.

Then, you can select which one is best for you and your business.

You can send feedback to our Product so they can check what changes or additional features you want in QuickBooks. Here's how:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions then select Next.
  3. You'll be provided a list of suggested Help articles related to your comment. You can read through them or select Skip and send message.
  4. From the drop-down, choose the appropriate category, then select Send message.

Your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development team to help improve your experience in QBO.

Stay in touch if you need anything else with QuickBooks. I'll be right here to help you.

Hi MaryLandT - thanks for your reply. But I think your information may not be out of date.

The Sync with PayPal app is NO LONGER available in QuickBooks Online. The only option available now is Connect to PayPal app. Another user has already confirmed this and that [Connect to Paypal] app doesn't have same configurations settings as [Sync with PayPal] app.
