Buy nowI am wondering if there is a way to generate reports so that they show the data based on the date that a transaction was first posted to QuickBooks. For example, Company A received the following deposits on Friday, Feb 4:
$2,000 Beginning cash balance
5,000 POS sales in store, posted to system on next business day, 2/7
10,000 received on Accounts receivable, posted to system on 2/4
15,000 draw from company LOC, posted to system on 2/4
7,500 credit card receipts from 2/2 sales, posted to system on 2/4
5,000 credit card receipts from 2/3 sales, posted to system on 2/7
20,000 disbursement checks generated on 2/4, 15,000 distributed by ACH, 5,000 mailed
If I go into the system on March 1, the cash account shows a balance of $24,500 ($2,000+5,000+10,000+15,000+7,500+5,000-20,000). But if I looked at the balance at the close of business on February 4, the cash balance would only show $14,500 ($2,000+10,000+15000+7,500-20000). So what I'm wanting to do is see what the owner would have seen at the end of the day, Friday, Feb 4 (all transactions that were posted through that day) and not what he actually had (all posted transactions, regardless of date) once everything was posted.
Thanks,
Clark
Unfortunately no, there really isn't a way do to this.

QuickBooks have different kinds of reports that you can use for your business. For now, generating reports that show transactions based on the posting date isn't possible. You'll want to use other kinds of reports that are somehow related to what you want. Then, customize them to ensure that you're getting the right data. To do this, follow the steps below:
To give you a clearer picture of the steps, read this article for more information: Customize Reports In QuickBooks Desktop. You can also learn from this article what available reports QuickBooks offers: Understand Reports.
