Is there a way to prevent the Description field in a Journal Entry from repeating on the next line?

I enter a different description for each line of my Journal entry. When I enter the description on the first line it automatically copies to the next line and I have to delete it to enter the new information. Is there a way to turn off that copy feature?

Thank you for sharing your observation, theclip.

Right now, QBO doesn't have an option to stop copying the description from the previous line. I see that this is not always ideal for certain journal entries, so I recommend sending feedback. This way, our engineers can add an option in future updates.

  1. Click on the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Feedback.
  3. Enter your suggestion and click Next.

You can also vote for other ideas on the Feedback page: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.

I'm just right here if you need more help with QuickBooks Online. Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks for joining the thread, @sf777.

Know that this isn't the experience we'd want you to have. To help you save time from deleting descriptions when doing journal entries inside QuickBooks Online (QBO), I'd recommend sending feedback to our Product Development Team. This way, they'll see your suggestion and consider adding it for future program updates. I'll input the steps below to get you going:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the top right-corner, click the Gear icon.
  3.  Select Feedback and then enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Once ready, click Next to submit feedback.

Moreover, here's an article to help you ensure your data stays accurate inside QBO: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

@sf777, feel free to mention me in the comment section below if you have any additional QuickBooks-related concerns or need assistance performing specific tasks inside the program. I've got you covered, and I'll gladly help you out again. Stay safe, and have a nice day!
