Is there any way to choose a date range before generating a report?

Right now I'm wasting time waiting for a huge report to generate when I only need data for one quarter. It seems logical - am I missing something? Thanks!!!

Oh boy! I feel so silly. I've been suffering with this for years and I just now went to my Preferences and saw that the box requesting a prompt to modify the report parameters was unchecked!  Problem Solved!  Thank you ChristieAnn :)

Thank you for visiting here in QuickBooks Community.

 

To sort out the issue, you'll have to see if the Prompt me to modify report option before opening a report box is checked.
 
Here's how:
 
1. Click the Edit menu. Then, Preferences.
2. Select Reports & Graphs.
3. Put a checkmark in the box under Prompt me to modify report options before opening a reports.
4. Click the OK button.
 
Once done, you'll have the option to choose a date range to all reports in QuickBooks so that you can only see the specific data for a specific date.

 

Here's how

 

1. Click Reports menu at the top.

2. Select the report depending on the data you want to see.

3. On the From and To box, choose specific date range to allow you see the specific data.

4.Click the Refresh tab.

Hi ChristieAnn, 

Thanks for your quick reply. That is the process I'm using now but the problem I'm having is that my system generates the entire report before I can choose my date range. Case in point, I'm running a closing date exception report and only need a 10 month range. However, my system begins generating the entire record and takes almost an hour to finish. I need to be able to choose the report, enter the date range, and then have the report generate. Does that make sense?
