Issue with PayPal Transactions

Hello All - I am a new QBO user. I have QBO automatically set up to download the PayPal transactions and then I accept them once they come in. Once that is complete, the move into the register for PayPal under accounting. A couple of issues I am running in to: 1) As you can see in the attached document, the name of the payee does not come through 2) When I go to reconcile, as a result of issue #1 above, I am not able to differentiate between each of the transactions I contacted QuickBooks and they informed me this is a known issue, but were not able to help me resolve it. I am assuming I am not the only one going through this. Can anyone please help?!

Issue with PayPal Transactions

I have checked it here on my end, ATDBC.

I've found an investigation for customers experiencing the same thing.

A workaround is provided, though. For now, you can import a .CSV file for your Paypal transactions. However, you'll have to delete the fees and transfers. Since it's already in the bank register.

Check this article for the detailed steps: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

I also recommend contacting our QuickBooks support so you will be added to the list of affected users. Here's how:

  1. Click the Help icon.
  2. Click Contact us.
  3. Enter Paypal sync error, then click Let's talk.
  4. Select from Start messaging or Get a callback.

We appreciate your patience and understanding on this matter.

Issue with PayPal Transactions

Thank you so much!  In looking at the article you suggested, it looks like this issue has been happening since 2018!  Why has this been an issue for so long and does QB expect it to be fixed any time soon?  I must say, it is very misleading that QB states that it is integrated with PayPal when there has been a known issue for this long. I used Wave accounting before this which was free and they did not have this issue.

Issue with PayPal Transactions

Thanks for the quick replies, Angelyn.  I am still a little confused on what I need to do.  I downloaded the csv file from PayPal.  You had stated to remove all of the transfers and the fees.  I have a question on both.  Are you saying I should remove the fee column on the csv file?  Every row has the a fee attached to it as almost every transaction has a fee since it is for a sale.  Also, we try and keep track of the fees.  So, if I delete that column, won't I lose the ability to track how much I spent in fees?  Second, you stated that I need to delete the transfers, but don't I want to keep track of money that I deposited into my account from PayPal?  Finally, what do I do with all of the transactions I downloaded and added from the banking section?  Do I now have to delete all of those since QuickBooks isn't doing what it is supposed to?  This is really frustrating!

Issue with PayPal Transactions

Hi there, @ATDBC.

Thank you for reaching back to the Community. I've read the whole thread, and you don't need to import transactions since you've already added them into QuickBooks Online. This to prevent any duplicated transaction.

As a workaround, you can pull up an actual statement from your PayPal account and take note the Ref No. to identify which transactions it is recorded.

If you want to learn more about PayPal, you can check this article: Connect to PayPal FAQ

If you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help them. Thank you and take care.
