I appreciate you for posting your concern in the QuickBooks Community, AKR3.
As a QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) user, you still own your data, regardless of subscription status after you cancel your subscription. You have two options to keep your data. One is to back up your company file to restore and edit with a compatible license or active subscription. The second is to export reports as Excel files. I can assist you with the process.
You can follow these steps to manually backup your company file:
- In your QBDT, go to the File menu and select Switch to Single-user Mode.
- Go to the File menu again and hover over Back up Company. Then select Create Local Backup.
- In the window, select Local Backup and then Next.
- In the Local Backup Only section, select Browse and select where you want to save your backup company file.
- Set the number of backups you want to keep. This is optional.
- This runs a test to make sure your backup file is in good shape before you save.
- When you're ready, select OK.
- Select Save it now and Next.
Moving forward, refer to the steps in this article for restoring your backup file in an active QBDT subscription: Restore a backup of your company file.
Another option is to export your data as Excel workbooks. Refer to this article for the detailed steps: Export reports as Excel workbooks in QuickBooks Desktop.
We'll be here in the Community if you have further concerns about keeping your data if you decide to cancel your QBDT subscription. We're committed to offering ongoing support. Take care.
