I entered an expense (as a bill) from a vendor to a sales rep (Rep RB) as well as the corresponding customer account through the bill. In our P&L by customer, this expense is shown but when I run the same P&L by Rep, the expense is not shown under Rep RB but under "No Sales Rep" even though it is linked through the bill as Rep RB.
What am i missing?
Hey there, @ryanavarisource.
You can verify the sales rep associated with your customer to show it on your Profit & Loss report. Let me guide you how.
To verify if the sales rep is saved on your customer information, you can follow the steps below:
Then pull up and customize your Profit & Loss Detail report again. Here's how:
But if it still doesn't show, you can run the Verify & Rebuild Data utilities. This way, you can check if there's a damage in your company file.
Please fill me in if you have any other concerns. I'll be here to help.
Thank you for the reply. the sales rep ID is set up correctly in the customer info so i know that is not the issue. The report i am running is P&L by Job and using the Show Columns Header to change from Customer:Job to Rep. I will try doing a rebuild as this doesn't look right (and my balance sheet is off so maybe that is the issue).
On another note, we had a sales call from someone claiming to be QB support which i think is a third party company trying to sell services- no one from Inuit would call us, right?
Thanks for getting back to us, @ryanavarisource.
The No sales rep column should only include transactions without reps assigned to it. In this case, it’s a good idea to run the Verify and Rebuild Utility Tool to fix any damage to the company file.
Always create a backup to avoid any accidental data loss before performing the following steps.
Once done, follow the instructions above except select verify instead of rebuild. Check out this article for reference: Resolve data damage. In the same link, you’ll find other data damage troubleshooting steps for Windows.
When it comes to the call you received, the QuickBooks Team here in the Community doesn’t have the tools to initiate a callback. You have to send a request through your QuickBooks Desktop Help menu, so one of our representatives can reach you.
Do not provide any personal information for security reasons. I suggest calling us instead for questions related to billing and account status.
Here's a link to guide you on how to contact phone support: Contact the QuickBooks Desktop Customer Support Team.
That should answer your concern for today.
Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions. I’m always ready to help. Have a great day!
The rebuild did not change anything. What is interesting is that when looking at this P&L, the expense that shows up under "No Sales Rep" instead of the correct "RB" Rep, shows up on the report when I change the filter to be only rep "RB". It is like "no sales rep" is linked to "RB" but they don't show on the same column. To make it more odd, when i drill down on the expense GL (8205 -consulting expenses) for No Sales Rep, the report is empty but when i drill down on the same expense GL (8205 -consulting expenses) for rep RB the expense shows correctly.
Let me route you to the best help available so someone can privately review your account and get your concern about your transactions on your reports addressed.
But first, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to explain the results you've validated after following the steps shared by my colleague above.
please know that here in the Community, we don't have a direct view of your account for security reasons. Thus said, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Support.
They can pull up and look into your account in a secure environment and share the steps need so you can show your bill or expense transactions with Sales Rep in your Profit & Loss by Job report.
