Now when I preview an invoice with multiple line items under separate dates, the order of my lines is incorrect, showing all the lines with dates first at the top.. Help?

I swear it wasn't doing this the other day, but some of the invoices we do have multiple line items listed under one date, but now if I don't repeat the date on each line, my line order is all messed up when I preview my invoice. The preview shows any and all dated lines listed first at the top, and all the lines that show between the lines with dates on my editing page are all under the last dated line instead of under the dated line they correspond with. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a site error?

Welcome to the Community, @userloneslandscaping

Thanks for sharing detailed information on what you've experienced when previewing your invoices.

It could be that you're experiencing a browser-related problem which causing this to happen. QuickBooks uses a browser cache for a faster loading experience. However, this may cause some unexpected behavior when it gets full.

To confirm, let's open QuickBooks using incognito or private mode. Here's how:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Option + P

Check to see if the error is gone. If it did, go back to the main browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. Otherwise, use other supported, up-to-date browsers.

Here's a great article that provides detailed information in personalizing your invoice: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have other concerns with your invoices. I'll be here to assist.

Thank you for your response, but unfortunately the error persists. I tried private mode, I tried deleting the cache and cookies, and my browser is updated beyond the recommended version, yet the line order of my invoices still does not correctly translate over to the preview/final draft unless only one date is used on the first line, or unless every single line is dated. Very frustrating. And I do know for sure that it wasn't doing this at first, because the first invoice I created and sent prior to this error occurring still views correctly. I have no idea what's changed or why the other invoices can't seem to load the same way.

Hi there, userloneslandscaping.

I appreciate that you followed the recommended steps provided by my colleague to fix the issue. For now, we haven't received any reports about previewing an invoice with multiple line items under separate dates showing incorrectly.

Since the issue persists, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They have the tools to check your account to investigate the cause of why invoice preview appears inaccurately.

Here's how to contact them:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Account.
  2. At the top right, click the Help icon.
  3. Type preview an invoice with multiple line items shows incorrectly in the Type something field.
  4. Click I still need a human.
  5. Hit Contact us.
  6. You'll be routed into the How can we help? page. Then, select how you want to contact them and fill in the information.

You can browse this article to learn more about the different types of support we offer at Intuit and its availability: Support hours and types.

Please refer to this article to see steps on how you can email or print more than one invoice by batch: How to email or print an invoice.

Keep me posted about this or if there's anything else I can help you with. I'd be happy to offer further assistance. Have a good one.

Thank you for your response, I have also gone that route and have spent HOURS now typing my issue over and over after getting disconnected on there end multiple times after they connect to view my screen and try changing all kinds of settings to no avail... I'm finally giving up for the night and hoping for a follow-up on this later, I've been told the issue has been escalated so we will see! Thanks again.
