Quickbooks has failed to download my payee info since March of 2015 on all my accounts. The amounts come down so I can use Quickbooks for my taxes as my accountant prefers it. I duplicate all my transactions using Quicken which does put in the Payee info so I at least I have a record.
Starting in March 2019 QB's started missing my Payment transactions from M&T Bank up til September. It downloaded my Deposits but not my Payments.
The problem of not downloading my Payee info is on all of my accounts since 2015. This includes M&T Bank, Chase and Capital One Visa.
Thanks for alerting me about this concern, @Anonymous.
When you’re busy managing a business, the last thing you should have to worry about is missing information from your downloaded bank transactions. Let’s fix this and get it updated.
Are you not seeing the Payee information in the For Review tab? If so, are all the downloaded transactions affected with it or just a few? This will help me narrow down the cause of this issue and provide a permanent resolution for you.
Please be advised that the information posted on your QuickBooks account depends on what your bank or financial institution shares with us. And on how they are initially displayed on your bank’s website. To check, kindly log in to your bank’s website and verify how your transactions are posted. There may also be a setting you’d need to check with them so the payee names will be included on the downloaded data.
If there are changes on how your transactions are posted, I suggest contacting your bank’s dedicated customer service department. In case that there are no changes made on your bank’s end, please give us a quick call. A banking specialists can securely access your account and see what’s causing this to happened.
Keep me posted if you have other questions. I'm always here to help.
I understand how it feels when there are missing info on your downloaded bank transactions, @Anonymous.
Can I ask if you're using renaming rules for bank feeds? If so, our product engineers are aware of this issue. Rest assured, they are actively working to get this issue resolved.
In line with this, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care Team. They can add your company on our notification list. This way, we'll be able to notify you once the issue has been resolved.
However, if you're not using bank rules, you can use the WebConnect process. With this, you'll be able to manually upload your bank transactions, including the payee info, to the program. Let me guide you how.
For detailed steps, see the Web Connect section through this article: Download Bank Feed Transactions. After the import, there might be transactions that are duplicates. You can remove them depending on which mode/view you're using.
Once done, you can categorize and match the transactions against the entries in QuickBooks. To learn more about this process, check out this article: Add and Match Bank Feed Transactions.
You can count me in if there's anything else you need. I want to make sure this is taken care of. Take care always, @Anonymous.
M&T Bank and Chase Visa are downloaded directly through Bank feeds via Direct connect. Capital One I download via Chrome the .QBO web connect file. All still do not add Payee.
I have been downloading my transactions using Quickbooks for over 20 years and it used to download the Payee info. Now it does not using Bank Feeds or via .QBO file.
Thanks for getting back to us, @Anonymous.
The data downloaded in QuickBooks are based on what’s shared by the bank. Since this is happening to all accounts, I suggest opening each one and review how the transactions are mapped.
This is to ensure the Payee is added to the bank statement. However, if you have set a rule for your entries, there’s already an open ticket about this issue (INV-0552).
To keep you in the loop for the resolution status, I encourage contacting our Technical Support Team. One of our agents will ask personal data to help you sign up for the list of affected users.
Adding you to the list provides essential information our engineers can use when rolling out the resolution. To find the contact details, follow the steps below.

Let's try other solutions to get the payee and payments downloaded in QuickBooks, fleinbach.
If there's no issue on the bank's end and you're not renaming rules for Bank Feeds, let's try opening a sample company file. This helps us to see if you're having a problem with only one file and not the program itself.
Then, try downloading Bank Feed Transactions again.
You can also open the file from a different location to check if the problem might be coming from a damaged folder.
If it works, you can run the Rebuild Data and Verify Data utility on the file you're working on. This will fix any damaged data in your company file. Just check out the Resolve data damage on your company file article for the steps and details.
If the same thing happens, try repairing the software to fix any damaged components.
Then, download the latest QuickBooks release before uploading the bank transactions.
If the problem persists, I'd suggest contacting our Technical Support Team. They'll investigate what's causing this issue. Just follow the steps provided by my colleague on how to reach out to them.
Visit the Community if you need anything else with Bank Feeds.
I have done everything mentioned here but still the problem persists. I tried to contact support but get no ware. All choices always take you to more self help screens that don't even pertain to my problem. There is no way to actually reach a support person.
I'm sorry to say Quickbooks is the company to try to reach support I have ever seen and I use dozens of programs.
I'd like to ensure you get in touch with our Customer Care Team, fleinbach.
You can follow these steps:
I'm also adding this article to check our support hours: Support hours and types.
