Join nowi created a QBM file for my cpa and discovered i left out some JEs. i want to delete the QBM file and write a new one. Can I delete the QBM file where I stored it to send to her? I am finding only information about opening and restoring QBM files. If I can't delete the file, can I overwrite it?
Hello @envirianhq:
A portable file makes a complete copy of your data file and it puts it in a better order. It’s very strange that it did not include some journal entries.
Why not consider sending the accountant an accountants copy? That’s what I used to do when I worked in desktop. If not, a not a back up copy should suffice. Make sure you create a specific user for your accountant. That way they’ll be able to open the back up file.
On a side note regarding deleting the portable file, If you leave your company file open in QB, (the company file you want to keep), then you cannot possibly delete the wrong data file. You cannot delete a file that is open in a program. It’s just a safety measure, but it works.

thanks for replying. I made the JEs after I created the QBM file and sent it to dropbox. That's why the JEs were not in the QBM file. In dropbox, can I delete the qBM file in dropbox? Otherwise, how do I overwrite it with the most recent data?
Hi there, envirianhq!
You can create a new QBM file that has your new journal entries and save it to Dropbox. About overriding the file, it isn't an option on QuickBooks Desktop files.
On the other hand, you can reach out to Dropbox's support about deleting your QBM file on their platform.
