Purchase Orders in Closed Periods

We close the financial period at the end of each month. We currently have older purchase orders from October that are still showing as open. Is there a way to close these POs without using our closing password? Thank you!

Purchase Orders in Closed Periods

Welcome to the Community, Emma92.

I can help you close the open purchase orders.

Since a purchase order is a non-posting transaction, closing it wouldn't affect your balance even if your books have been closed. I can show you how to do this without using the closing password.

Please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Vendors at the top.
  2. Choose Bill Tracker.
  3. Under Type, choose Purchase Order.
  4. Select the open POs that you want to close.
  5. Under Action, choose Close PO.

I've outlined exactly how to do this in the screenshots below.

Here's an article that may come in handy: Accounts Payable workflows in QuickBooks Desktop.

That should get you back on track. Let me know how it goes. Should you have other concerns, please let me know. I'm always happy to help. Enjoy your day.
