Re: QB won't let me make a customer inactive because they are "part of a recurring template" I do...

Greetings, @swordfishbookkee.

You'll need to delete the recurring transaction associated to your customer to inactivate them. Let me add more details and help you further.

You might've created a recurring transaction with that customer which makes you unable to inactivate them. You'll need to delete the recurring transaction. To accomplish this, you may follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Recurring Transactions.
  3. Choose Delete under the Edit drop-down from the Action column.
  4. Select Yes on the pop-up.

Once done, you can now inactivate your customer from the Customer Information page. Here's how:

  1. Click on Sales from the left panel.
  2. Click on Customers.
  3. Select the customer you want to inactivate.
  4. Click on Edit.
  5. Click on Make inactive.
  6. Select Yes on the pop-up.

That's it! You've now inactivated your customer.

Please let me know if you have any other concerns.
