Hi @Carolb222,
Thanks for checking in with the Community. Just_me is correct. You can hide the inactive customers by unchecking the settings box in each category. Let me provide this article with detailed steps on managing lists: Manage customer lists
Let me know if you have any other questions or if there is anything else I can help you with. I’ll be here for you.
Thank you
Thank you

That did not work for me; "include inactive" is unchecked, and yet I still see (deleted) customers. We recently migrated from Desktop Enterprise, and 20 years' worth of inactive customer:jobs are showing. This is especially bothersome when trying to create statements, as there are almost 6,000 customers showing. Rumor has it it is because there is unbilled time / expenses. Any additional suggestions?
Thanks for joining this conversation, @SDDG. I can help you with your concern about making your customers inactive in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
In QBO, you can make your customers' profiles inactive seamlessly. If the option is unavailable due to billable expenses, you can hide them.
Let me walk you through the process:
For more information about deleting customers with unbilled charges, feel free to visit this article.
In case you still can't make the customers' profiles inactive, you'll have to manually remove the Billable checkmarks to get through it. You can run the Unbilled Charges report to see all of your billable expenses easily.
Additionally, you can refer to this article if you want to know more about how you can personalize your reports: Customize Reports in QuickBooks Online. Then memorize it to save it with its current customization settings.
As always, I'll be glad to provide further assistance about making your customers inactive or any other QBO concerns. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Kevin, thanks for your response. I shared it with our bookkeeper, who didn't know about this. My one remaining question, does this work for both expenses (e.g. taxis) and time? If not, ss there a separate methodology for time?

Kevin, thanks for that response, even our bookkeeper didn't know this. My remaining question is, does this methodology work for both expenses and time? If not, what is the process for time?
Shayne
Hello, SDDG.
The process provided by my colleague Kevin_C includes the time that was marked as billable. If the issues persist, you can manually delete unbilled time and expenses.
You can run the Unbilled Charges report to see all the unbilled expenses. Then, you can run the Unbilled Time report to view all time transactions.
Feel free to visit this article for more insights: Delete customers with unbilled charges.

Thank you... Sorry just seeing this now
"Include Inactive" is not checked on my vendor or customer list. However, when using the search bar function at the top right of the page, it still shows all those inactive vendors/customers. (& there's no way to tell from the search bar which ones are inactive until you've clicked the name to open their customer/vendor page!... its frustrating, to say the least)
Is there a way to remove them from the main search function?
I appreciate you sharing your concern with us, ThePlantGallery.
With QuickBooks Online, the search bar function helps you track recent searches and transactions you've entered within your account. Thus, this ensures that QuickBooks matches the data you're looking for. With that, the ability to remove all those inactive vendors or customers from the search option is unavailable in the program. I'd encourage you to share your ideas with our product developers, as this would help them determine what features need to be added for future updates.
To do that, here's how you can submit feedback:
