Quickbooks Accountant 2019 and Excel 2019 Statement Writer Errors

Statement writer opens fine and I get all the way to Review and Submit to Excel and I get this error which crashes Excel when I click ok:

quickbooksproblem_7593a280-4f11-4358-9a73-410e461c8aac.PNG

So I click OK and it crashes Excel. Then I try running the QSW Diagnostic and get this error message:

UnhandledExceptionWhenyourunthedebug_3aa19993-f364-4c3c-ad67-2f46b597d6d0.PNG

Was on the phone with Intuit yesterday and we went through a lot of efforts to work with the vst40 ect did a clean install of quickbooks still no luck. Called Excel and was told it seems to be on the Quickbooks end.

I have a feeling I'm missing a file or something. Has anyone had Excel 2019 work with QSW?

I'm running it on Windows 10 64bit Quickbooks Accountant 2019 and Excel 2019. Quickbooks exports normal reports to Excel just fine, only the QSW causes this error.

Re: Quickbooks Accountant 2019 and Excel 2019 Statement Writer Errors

SOLUTION

After returning Excel 2019 and purchasing 2013. I decided to read the error again and it said it was having trouble finding the SDKadapter but Inuit installed filed onto /programfilesx86 but it was looking in /programfiles instead. So I copied the entire Quickbooks statement writer folder into a pathway C:/programfiles/Intuit/Quickbooksstatementwriter. And lo and behold it works now.

Re: Quickbooks Accountant 2019 and Excel 2019 Statement Writer Errors

Great to see you here in the Community, @JakeP

I appreciate you for attaching two screenshots about the errors you're getting when using the QuickBooks Statement Writer (QSW).

QSW is only compatible with Microsoft Excel 2007, 2010, and 2013 (including 64-bit). You'll need to install the supported version of Excel on the Microsoft's website. Please see the screenshot below for your reference.

QSW.PNG

Once installed, you can go back to your company file, and then use and navigate the QSW

If you're still getting any errors, let's perform some steps on how to fix them. To start with, let's make sure the program is updated to the latest release if you're using the CD version. There isn't a need to update the software if you've downloaded it from the internet.

Second, let's download the latest version of QSW by performing the steps below:

  1. Open QuickBooks Statement Writer.
  2. Select Help Center.
  3. Click Update.

Third, let's the change the regional settings in Windows to be set to your QuickBooks 2019 version. You can also check out these system requirements to help fix QuickBooks Desktop's compatibility issues.

I'm adding this article so you can proceed with the other solutions that will help you resolve performance issues when using QSW: Fix Problems with Statement Writer

The steps above will help you successfully create your professional financial reports on the Statement Writer, @JakeP

I'll be around to help if there's anything else you need. Have a great day.

Re: Quickbooks Accountant 2019 and Excel 2019 Statement Writer Errors

So I have to track down an older version of excel (that microsoft no longer even offers as a legitimate purchase) to run customized statements on the newest version of Quickbooks Accountant?

I'm sorry but that's absolutely ridiculous and you would think the developers would notice this crutch considering Microsoft is hard pushing Office 365 over any other version they've ever released.

Thank you for your response.

I purchased Excel 2013 and I am still receiving the same error. I've gone through the steps on QSW multiple times.

Re: Quickbooks Accountant 2019 and Excel 2019 Statement Writer Errors

Hi there, @JakeP.

I appreciate the points your making, and if I were in your position, I would feel the same way. Thank you for alerting us about this and for trying the solution recommended by my colleague. Allow me to join the conversation and add steps for exporting statements to Excel.

To start, you'll need to refresh QSW's access permission. Here's how:

  1. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
  2. Select Integrated Applications on the left pane, then go to Company Preferences tab.
  3. Choose QuickBooks Statement Writer, then select Remove.
  4. Close then relaunch your QuickBooks Desktop.
  5. Open the Statement Writer.

If you get the same result, you can refer to the following steps below to edit the QBDSK.INI file.

  1. Go to the location of the file C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks\QBDSK.INI.
  2. Right-click the QBDSK.INI file, choose Open with then select Notepad.
  3. Add the following:

    [Log]

    Level=verbose

    UnlimitedSize=Y

    [Parser]

    DumpRequestData=Y

    SdkAccelerator=N

  4. Save the changes by going to File, then Save in Notepad.
  5. Restart QuickBooks.

If the report does not open, I recommend calling our phone support again. Our Tech Support Specialists will need to perform some additional troubleshooting to fix the import issue as quickly as possible.

After reaching out to them, please let me know by leaving a reply below. I'll be around if you need anything else.

Re: Quickbooks Accountant 2019 and Excel 2019 Statement Writer Errors

Totally agree it is ridiculous.  Intuit forces us to upgrade our clients every three years to keep payroll current but they cannot keep up with new versions of Office.  It is not like Intuit is using an Excel that is a few years old, the latest that works with statement writer is 6 years old.  This is really a problem.  I have one laptop in the office that is on it's last leg and it is the only thing we have with 2013 Excel.  If Intuit can't keep up with Microsoft, then we they should make the report function within Quickbooks have more flexibility.  How can I recommend my clients use Quickbooks when it is a problem for me to prepare proper financial statements?  I am sure that many accountants are really having an issue with this.

Re: Quickbooks Accountant 2019 and Excel 2019 Statement Writer Errors

Hi Lisa galvin,

I understand the importance of being able to come up with any financial reports you need for your clients using QuickBooks. However, when integrating other apps with the program, engineers also consider the compatibility and stability depending on the versions.

Microsoft also releases program updates which contain changes with the features and options that affect the integration. I'm currently taking note of your request with regards the improvement QuickBooks needs to cope up with the reporting needs without the need of exporting them.

Any updates with the supported versions will be on the articles I'm adding below:

Additionally, you can also check any new features within the product by following these steps:

  1. Click the Help tab at the top menu bar.
  2. Select New Features.
  3. Click What's New or New Feature Tour.

Please keep in touch with me here should you need any further assistance concerning the reports flexibility. The Community always has your back.

Re: Quickbooks Accountant 2019 and Excel 2019 Statement Writer Errors

I just want to say I am absolutely disgusted with the customer service QBs Enterprise team. Our company has used QBs Enterprise since 2015 but we are now looking elsewhere. On August 29th, we called to get help with our QBs Statement Writer on going issue and spoke with Paul at Enterprise for roughly two hours. He tried to help us out but proclaimed that we needed Excel 2013 instead of Office 365. Our IT director went and purchased the 2013 Office software that evening because Paul was scheduled to return our call the following day but that never happened. I even called again the following day, an hour past our scheduled meeting, and the Enterprise representative took my name and number [in case he wrote it down wrong the day before] and she told he she messaged him all my information. Well it’s been a little over a week since all this happened and Paul has still NOT reached back to me in regard to resolving our on going issue with the QBs Statement Writer. If anyone can help please reach out to me at [removed] or [email address removed].

Thank you,

Re: Quickbooks Accountant 2019 and Excel 2019 Statement Writer Errors

Your explanation is not really a solution - very frustrating.  Years ago Intuit created a patch when we updated from 2000 to 2003 or 2007 - it did not work correctly then either but the patch fixed the issue.  I understand that Microsoft is constantly making changes and that Office 365 is always evolving; however, a Tech company as big as Intuit should be able to have some sort of patch or workaround available.   Basically my ProAdvisor membership is worthless if I need to continue to figure out how to prepare statements.  Once my old laptop dies, I am going to have to recreate each month for financials - totally a waste of time and I can't bill my client for the inadequacy of the software.  I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way.
