QuickBooks Accountant 2022 - Webconnector Fails When QB is Open

  • This is for QB Accountant 2022
  • The current version of the QB Webcnnector is Installed (2.3.0.207)
  • This is running on a Windows 10 PC.  The company file is located on this same PC.  Other users in the office connect via the network and run QB using this file
  • The web connector runs fine when QB is closed
  • When QB is open, the Webconnector fails
  • Everything was fine with the web connector until we installed QB 2022
  • Any ideas for me?  We need to be able to run the web connector when QB is open on the same PC.

QuickBooks Accountant 2022 - Webconnector Fails When QB is Open

It's great to see you here in the Community, Pat OBrien BORU.

I can walk you through fixing the Web Connector option so you can successfully set up and manage an apps.

The error can be caused by the following:

  • QuickBooks isn’t running
  • No company file is open
  • An open window is preventing the connection

To fix this let's exit and reopen QuickBooks. Then, make sure QuickBooks is in a Single User Mode and you're logged into QuickBooks as an Admin User. The  Admin user has a password since the Web connector will not work properly if the Admin user has no password. Also, ensure there are no other windows open in QuickBooks.

Then, you can follow the steps on this article for more details in setting up Web Connector: Set up QuickBooks Web Connector.

Let me know how this goes by leaving a comment below. I always have your back.

QuickBooks Accountant 2022 - Webconnector Fails When QB is Open

Thank you for your response, Catherine.

Just to be clear, the QB Webconnector runs fine when QB is closed.  The problem is that we can't get it to run when QB is open.

It seems your response will not help because it is directed to

  • QuickBooks isn’t running
  • No company file is open
  • An open window is preventing the connection

QuickBooks Accountant 2022 - Webconnector Fails When QB is Open

Thanks for coming back for more support, @Pat OBrien BORU

The error message you received may mean one of two things:

  1. In MyWorks Sync > Connection in our sync on your site, there is an incorrect/invalid QuickBooks company file path set in the optional field to provide a company file path.
  2. The QuickBooks company you're attempting to sync with is not currently open.

To resolve this issue, ensure that your QuickBooks company file path is correct. Though this is entirely optional and only needs to be set if needing to sync with QuickBooks while QuickBooks is completely closed.

Additionally, the path should end with .qbw. Here's an example:

C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files.qbw

I'd suggest you open a diagnostic window by pressing Control + 1 on your keyboard while QuickBooks is open. Then, let's confirm the file path is causing the issue by removing it and clicking save on the right (no need to regenerate the QWC file).

If the web connector runs successfully while QuickBooks is open, this confirms the path is the issue and simply needs to be corrected.

Lastly, ensure your QuickBooks company you're attempting to sync is currently open.

Feel free to get back and post some more. I'll be here to guide you.
