Join nowWe migrated our Company file from my predecessor's Quickbooks 2019 for MAC to my laptop running Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2021. I can see and write checks, I can enter expenses and income. However, when I try to run a report on Budget, I receive error message that no budgets exist and that i would need to create a budget.
After spending an hour with Tech Support from both Desktop and MAC support departments, I was sent a link to how to fix data damage. I did the Rebuild and Verify data options. I still see no Budget.
Before I re-create the budget on this new version/computer, has anyone encountered this before and have a fix?
Thanks.
I can help you further with your budget, @CESTexas,
For now, try to create a budget report on a test company file to check if the same issue is happening there. This test account has all the features of the actual working file making it a great place to check for any corruption or data issues.
To do that, click the Open a sample file drop-down on the QuickBooks Startup page. See this illustration:
However, if the problem persists on the sample company, use the Repair Tool. It fixes most issues within the software. Here's how:
Note: If you don't see Programs and Features, select Programs instead. Then select Program and Features.
To learn more about repairing QuickBooks and its complete steps, go to this link: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
After the Repair, run QuickBooks as Admin. Do this by right-clicking the QuickBooks icon in the desktop and selecting Run as Administrator.
Just in case the error persist, I would recommend contacting our Support Team again. They can provide more help with technical concerns about QuickBooks.

Let me know the result once you've tried out the steps. I want to make sure your budget concern is fully addressed and I'm here to provide further assistance. Have a great rest of the week!
Thank you very much for the information. Unfortunately, did not fix the issue.
It seems that the Budget items just are not getting bundled in the .qbb file that my colleague is creating on her MAC to migrate to my PC. Is there somewhere she can ensure all aspects of the company are saved into the file?
Thank you.
Hi CESTexas,
We have also received concerns from other users who say their budget report from QB Mac aren't showing on QBDT after conversion.
Our engineers are already informed about this, and we're also waiting for their feedback. Please contact our Support team again, shortly, and say you're affected by the issue. You can give them this ticket number: INV-14677. That way, they can subscribe you to the updates.
On the other hand, I know you also have a business running, so for now, I suggest getting a PDF or printed copy of the budget reports you need if you still have access to the QuickBooks for Mac file.
Please don't hesitate to go back to this thread if you have other questions in mind.
I had sort of a random question. So I have a 840 EVO which I previously used as my main storage/boot device for a MacBook Pro that is now broken. Ideally I would like to keep those files and use the SSD as another storage device for my PC. However when I try plugging the SSD into my PC, it doesn't read the device. I imagine this is because the drive has been formatted as a boot drive for Mac.
I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out the easiest way to keep the data on the drive and to format it properly as an extra storage device for my PC IndigoCard Login
I'm here to ensure you're able to save your company file, Paolon.
We'll have to secure a back-up copy of your QuickBooks data, so you'll be able to restore it on your PC. In doing this, you'll have two options where you'd like to save the copy. I've listed them below:
Here's how to back-up your company file:
Though, if you're still unable to save a copy of your data, I recommend contacting an IT support. They'll be able to ensure everything is correct to successfully back-up the file.
Additionally, you can restore your back-up company file in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. Once done, you can continue managing your books.
As always, we're here to help if you have additional concerns questions. You can get in touch by clicking the Reply button.
Hello JessT,
Thank you very much for the update. Thankfully, my predecessor is keeping her copy of QB MAC on her laptop until we can ensure I have all of the needed data. I will contact your support team and provide the below ticket number. I hope that your engineers are able to resolve this issue.
Thank you.
