I'll show you a way on how change plans without transferring your customers and vendors.
With QuickBooks Online, you have the option to downgrade your plan from Essentials to Simple Start. Please keep in mind that you may be losing some essential features, and downgrading removes any discounts on your current plan.
Also, you may need to turn off some features. To see what are the features you need to disable, please check out Step 2 under Downgrade your subscription section in this article: Upgrade or downgrade your QuickBooks Online subscription.
Once everything is settled, you can downgrade the plan by following these steps:
If you want to cancel the current account and subscribe to a new one, you have the option to export the data from the old account and import it to your new account. To check what are the data that you can export and import, please feel free to read these articles:
After transferring some of your data to the new account, you can cancel the old account. Here's a link for the details and steps: Cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription or trial.

Thank you for the tip.
I have since learned that if I downgrade to Simple Start, which has everything I need and would use, I will give up 1 resource I need, recurring invoices. I did not look close enough before being interested.
I have 100's of clients so I would have to go back to manually copying their last invoice and send them out each individually. Not sure that would be worth saving $25 per month.
If you have another suggestion I would be interested.

Just to clarify, do you prefer to lower your cost but still need the specific feature on QBO Essentials?
Yes, that would be perfect. I started out with a monthly around $30 per month years ago and it has continued to increase without a lot of extras
Check your PM. Hope it helps.
