Checking shows a negative number in quick books

It's nice to see you here in the Community, Kathycrawford.

Let me help sort out why the checking account shows a negative number in Quick books.

If you’re referring to the negative amount on the In QuickBooks section, there are a few factors that can trigger the issue. If you have outstanding or duplicate transactions, or you’ve modified them, they can cause discrepancy to the account.

To keep your record in order, you’ll need to check for transactions that may cause a mismatch or customize your bank register. From there sort it by date, and compare the recent transactions to your bank account.

For the detailed instructions on how to resolve the discrepancy, refer to the How to fix differences between QuickBooks balance and bank balance article and select the recommended fix or action.

If you meant something else, I'd appreciate additional details to help get on the same page. Thanks in advance.
