Commission Report by Sales Rep, based on Profit Paid

Good Morning All,

We are new to QB and learning our way around the VAST array of Report offerings. We are leaving an industry specific software that we have used for over 25 years and are struggling with finding a similar Monthly Sales Commission Report. We would like a report that will calculate our Sales Commission by Rep, based on Profit Paid each month.

Anyone have any guidance?

Commission Report by Sales Rep, based on Profit Paid

QB doesn't have a report that will do this.

You can see the sales by rep, and perhaps somehow see the profit for each sale, but it won't calculate a commission based on those numbers.

Thank you for your reply. We will gladly take a report that would show the profit for each sale - we can do the calculating ourselves. Might you have a suggestion on how to run a report like that?

The report that comes to mind is the Job Profitability Summary.  Filter it for a date range.

Can this be done by invoice rather than by customer?

Thanks for joining this conversation, CranberryRed.

I can share some insights about the reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Right now, QuickBooks doesn't have a profitability report per invoice. We can only run the Job Profitability Detail and filter it by sales rep. This report shows how much money your company has made to date on the customer or job whose name you entered. The report lists costs and revenues for each item you billed to the customer so you can see which parts of the job were profitable and which parts were not.

Here's how to customize this report:

  1. Click Reports at the top.
  2. Under Job, Time & Mileage, choose Job Profitability Detail.
  3. Select the Customer or Job and click OK.
  4. Click the Customize Report button.
  5. Under the Filter tab, enter Rep in the Search Filters box.
  6. Select the appropriate sales rep.
  7. Select OK.

The screenshot below shows these steps as well.

That should get you on the right track. If you have other questions, I would be happy to answer them. Just post it here as a comment and I'll take a look at it. Enjoy your weekend.
