Credit Card fees being added to customer accounts as credit...

I noticed over the past week that when a customer chooses to pay their invoice with a credit card through Quickbooks that the credit card fee is applied to their account as a credit. For example, $60 invoice customer pays with credit card in the past QB would automatically create a separate invoice for the credit card fee and it would balance out. Now, QB is not creating an invoice for the Credit Card Fee. So, today, a customer paid their $60 invoice with a credit card and the $2.40, or whatever the fee was, is listed as an overpayment and results in a credit on their account. What's going on Quickbooks? Another glitch here or have you folks changed something without notifying me? Anybody else experiencing this?

Credit Card fees being added to customer accounts as credit...

As of this moment, there are no similar concerns posted in this public forum, @icutgrassllc.

Once you QuickBooks Payments in accepting customer payments, QuickBooks doesn't automatically create a credit card fee for it.

When your customer pays you, the system will automatically deduct the rates per transaction before they will be deposited to your bank. Therefore, only the net amount should be downloaded into your bank register.

Since you're seeing a separate amount in your downloaded transactions, I'd recommend excluding them. This way, they won't be counted as an overpayment or customer credit. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu or Transactions menu, then select the Banking tab.
  2. Click the For Review tab and check the box for the transactions you want to exclude.
  3. Select Exclude.

I'd also recommend checking this concern with your bank. Any downloaded transactions on the Banking page will depend on how they shared them with us.

I've also included this link as an additional reference in categorizing your transactions once they showed up in the Banking menu.

Please know that our doors are always open to help you with any QuickBooks-related concerns. Take care and enjoy the day!

Credit Card fees being added to customer accounts as credit...

Hello,

Thank you for the note. Prior to posting my problem I had called into QB and they gave me a ticket number. They could not figure it out either but while the guy was researching he said others were having the same issue. My Case # [removed].

The issue has not been resolved. I need to stress this is not a user created issue. The system has changed this on it's own.
